Well that would be me, I guess. The reason it's in the condition it is now has to do with me having very little time these days.  PHPnuke has some serious security issues which I've been a victem of several times now. It's time consuming to rebuild a portal, it's been necesarry a couple of times now and I'm fed up now.

At present I'm reviewing a number of opensource portal systems. Mambo has a nice featureset, but migration may mean a lot of manual labour. XOOPS is in my view too limited, and isn't production ready yet. (though I do like it's simplicity, intergratig program e was quite easy).  

Nevertheless, you are right that it doesn't needs to be in this state either.  I'll create a placeholder a soon as I get back to a proper internet connection again.
