Some changes are meant to decrease learning time for newcomers, or make
developing more comfortable. Deprecation allows for oldtimers still to use
their knowledge.

* the process of making a standard doesn't take into account (or at least
notice) all discussions related to it (is related to the change control
process), which then often results in the next point:

that "could have been thought out more" and the like.
