The end how? See the comments about "organized abandonment" in the Trustee
Handbook. It's not so easy to "kill" a nonprofit corporation, even if it
goes bankrupt. The entity will exist legally until the Board goes through
the process of organzied abandonment, which itself costs money. A "freeze"
would create a complicated tax situation in which the Foundation fails to
file its required IRS return every year, and we would incur penalties.
Your elegant solution of starting a whole new Foundation costs money too.
I can't pay for everyone's mistakes. We have a perefectly good Foundation
here, that somehow functions, and can be improved. There is no need to
create alternatives. It's easy to spend other people's money, Chris. This
Foundation is run by volunteers who are for the most part, poor.
