  I would call that pre-processor, I personally don't want the alice
software to actually process the commands, just translate the natural
language input into a computer-readable format so that they (the commands)
can be processed by the software alice is interfacing to.

  I will probably have to go to greater depth explaining what I mean by
asynchronous/synchronous (maybe this distincton isn't even needed) so I
would omit this for the time being - we can get back to it when (if) the
need arises.
