How do you justify scaring people in a free world into fearing free speech?
The same thing that you are asking for, you are discouraging. You say
that other "opinions" expressed by others have upset you. You say that you
wish to find out what it is that makes the "terrorists" tick. You want to
know what they want. Yet when it comes to what your fellow citizens feel
and think, you say that is "scaring" you, and you want no part of it. You
are putting yourself in position to be terrorized by the wrong person. To
live in another part of the world that does not see society's views, means
that the discussions you have on the internet or amoung friends would not be
allowed. This is one of America's greatest achievements, allowing citizens
to be able to hold their own beliefs. How then when it comes to a
discussion can you possibly feel that your opinion does not count?
I am not saying that I agree with your beliefs, or with anyone else
on this group. But this is what I pose to you. If you walk away, if you
feel that your "fellow americans" are wrong, or overpowering you, then what
does that say for your ideas. To quit, is to admit defeat. Stand up for
your beliefs, do not be trampled by the mighty foot you see ahead of you.
This is where a lot of Americans believe they are in this country after the
events on Tuesday. The terrorists have blatently said that our Idealism is
wrong. It is because of our differences that we have been attacked. This
is why many Americans feel they need to stand up and let whoever did this
know that we will not be silenced. We will not be pushed. It is knowing
that the fanatics behind this are so involved with their belief, they will
not listen to reason.
If you ask them what they want, or if you ask them what we have done
wrong, they will tell you that it is our involvement with Israel, our lack
of support for their movement. They want us out so they can walk in and
claim their holy land. This we cannot do. The officials that we have in
our government already know this. This is not something that has developed
within the last 5 days, we have been facing this for years upon years. The
very same people that are elected by us American Citizens are there for a
reason. We have entrusted them to make decisions based on what we ourselves
would want to do.
Do not be discouraged because some people on here, or close to you
do not agree with you. It is your personal beliefs that render who you are
individually. This discussion is not about who is right, but who is
thinking, who is showing their freedoms. This right here is what it is all
about, this is where you are allowed the chance to express your freedoms.
One thing that We in a free society need to seriously understand is the fact
that we do not all think alike, and we need to appreciate the fact that we
are not all alike. This is what makes America worth living in. This is
what makes us proud to be Americans. When you feel as if you are knocked on
the ground by what someone says or does, get up, and wipe the dust off you,
and show that you are a member of the human race. Show that when you are
pushed, you will just stand up until you are no longer able to.
And Lastly, it is nice that this is being discussed, but isn't this
the wrong forum to be discussing this. I would hate to see someone lost
because someone was talking about something that did not partain to the
subject, this is supposed to be about artificial intelligence ethics. Do
not leave because your thoughts differ from someone else on a totally
seperate matter. Just nod your head and move on. Or, display your
thoughts, and move on.
