According to Turing's biographer Andrew Hodges, Turing's mother always
believed that his death was an accident. It seems Turing was always messing
around with household chemicals. One of his "eccentricities" was his "hobby"
of showing how to make toxic or dangerous substances from ordinary household
chemicals. His mother claimed that the apple was likely poisoned accidentally
in one of his "experiments".
