Alicebot AI Ethics Committee - http://www.alicebot.org
Hi!
Alright, the list has been existant for two days now, up to now we have =
12
subscribers and I'd say we should start the first discussions...
IMHO there are 2 issues that need attention first:
1. What is our purpose, and what is NOT? Are there issues that are none =
of
our business (e.g. the prevention of "unethical" use of AIML-based =
software)
or that cannot technically be taken care of?
2. Speaking of "unethical" use of AIML-based software...What is =
"ethical"
and what is "unethical" ?
As Richard said, we are a global village here, consisting of people from
countries all over the world, who all went through different systems of
socialisation when we grew up. But I think you all agree that we must =
find a
definition of "ethical" and "unethical" we all can live with to have a =
basis
for any further discussion...
But what can we use to form such a basis? Should we use that what has =
become
"human rights"? Should we try to conceive our very own set of ethical =
rules
or rather take them from a system that has been widely adopted?
What are the standards against which we can measure what is "ethical" =
and
what is not?
Is the word "moral" of any importance to this matter? And if so, what is =
the
difference between "ethical"/"unethical" and "moral"/"amoral"?
